What do 'natural' and 'organic' mean?

Good question. The use of natural and organic in the beauty industry is still unregulated which means that they commonly get misused by big companies wanting to cash in on people's own desire to lead a healthier lifestyle. At Puresha, we select products made by real people who are passionately committed to reducing the chemicals in beauty products. You can find a list of the ingredients we ensure are not in any of our brand products here. The terms "Natural" and "Organic" are not at all the same. According to government labeling requirements, "natural" means that an ingredient: "has not been significantly altered from it's original state, nor has anything been removed from it (with the exception of water), nor have other substances been added to it."
At Puresha we use the term natural when a product is not certified Organic (or over 75% Organic), yet is committed to producing beauty products without unfriendly products for the body or the environment. On each brand's 'about' page, you can read each company's own commitments in terms of how they choose their product ingredients.

What are the benefits of going organic?

Organic has tremendous benefits both to our health, and our environment. Organic greatly reduces and/or eliminates the use of toxic chemicals (synthetic pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers), and sewage sludge on our food, in our water (toxic sewage and chemicals ultimately run-off into the water supply and pollute it), and our environment at large.

How does Puresha choose a brand to work with?

Intuition has a lot to do with it - that gut feel of whether a brand is a Puresha brand or not is something hard to explain. However, on top of serendipity, we also have a product criteria to evaluate new brands. Read it here.

What can I expect form switching to Puresha products and how long will it take?

It depends on you and your regime and of course, your lifestyle. If you switch to natural and organic beauty products, we will also assume that you are fairly considered when it comes to your own well-being. We're not talking saints here, but a little exercise here and there, lots of water and fruit and veggies and all of that normal stuff. We see and hear about dramatic results in as little as 7 days - brighter skin that is less congested - shiny hair full of life - dramatically reduced lines or pigmentation. We would recommend a period of at least 21 days of regular use to see how your skin truly responds to a new line of products.

Do your products contain animal-derived ingredients?

Some of our products contain animal by-products that are humanely obtained, such as beeswax, honey, and lanolin. Only one of our brands, Marie Veronique uses Emu Oil and Deer Antler Velvet in its Wrinkle Smoother and Creme de Soleil. These ingredients are obtained from free range animals that are reared humanely (Please Note. These products are not suitable for Vegetarians or Vegans). To help you, all product ingredients are listed on the product page. You can also email the personal shoppers if you have a query.

I just started using your products and my skin keeps breaking out - why?

Medications and other skin care regimens may have suppressed your symptoms. When transitioning to very pure products,  we suggest a period of acclimation to a new way of caring for your skin. Please contact us if you require any advice.

Have you got a catalogue?

Being dedicated to reducing our impact on the environment, we do not currently have a printed catalogue. We are, however looking to produce emailable catalogues that you can print at your own discretion. Please email us and let us know that you would like to receive this when it is completed.
