DON'T TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT:
I love this. I don\'t wear most ambers very well, but this is the one that\'s perfect for me. It\'s sharp and green in the top notes (bergamot) and it softens to a warm woody amber later. Lovely. Worth trying if you\'re like me and you avoid the very sweet foody ambers.
I am in love... This is the most interesting and unusual scent I\'ve tried in a long time. At first it was harsh and way too strong, probably because of the top note: bergamot, but then only 5 minutes later it developed to the most beautiful amber scent there is! It smells of warm, dark, and creamy vanilla, with some honey maybe? I can also detect a bit of cinnamon. Ambre is sensual, cozy and fascinating, and it lasts for hours. I was looking for a new scent and I am so happy that I found it. Also, the bottle is simple and elegant, I just love it. It\'s hard to compare it to anything out there!
Patyka Ambre opens w/ a very sharp blast of bergamot. The first time I wore it this gave me pause, wondering if there hadn\'t been some sort of internal battle in the bottle where the amber had been permanently defeated by bergamot and was never going to emerge at all. Thankfully, it did. As w/ all the Patykas, I find Ambre to be rather overwhelming and harsh for anywhere from the first 15 minutes to half hour. However, after that time period it softens out in the most exquisite way and leaves me w/ my nose glued to my wrist, fascinated by how it evolves and develops on my skin. Once the bergamot has kindly backed down in Ambre the vanilla and woody notes begin to come to the fore w/ the amber and contribute to a lovely, warm, earthy dry down. On me the lasting power of the Patykas is fantastic. They can be worn individually, but they are also formulated to be layered w/ each other like the Jo Malones. The suggestion for the Ambre is to layer it w/ the Patyka Boise or Floral.
